Why the conclave?

December 11, 2017 | Expert Insights

Karnataka is home to some of the largest technology companies in the domain of ICT, Pharmaceutical, Aerospace, Automobiles, R&D etc. While this is true, there is an intrinsic risk to these businesses. With growing adoption of robotics and AI, we are entering a new era of automation with industry 4.0. This will put pressure on the sustainability of jobs, especially in the services and manufacturing sector. While companies and governments try to further maximize economic opportunities, we at the Synergia Foundation look at how existing business can be secured and how their life expediency can be extended. Outside the ambit of automation, one of the key threats to industries is digital or cyber threats.

Threats to digital security are growing and mutating continuously. While e-commerce, artificial intelligence and big data offer opportunities for profitable businesses, the environment urgently needs to augment digital trust, active defence and a resilient design architecture. National security is no longer about securing one’s borders. It is dependent on the ability to navigate through the global commons – sea, air and cyberspace that facilitate the passage of goods, people, communication, and data. Yet emerging trends are threatening the freedom of action for all.

The objective of the Synergia Conclave 2017 being held in Bangalore during 17 –19th November is to primarily reimagine how business and security will evolve in a digitized and asymmetric world in the next 3 - 5 years. Government and business leaders need to sharpen both their linear and spatial thinking abilities to ensure that they are able to further enhance the resilience of their organization. The conclave will bring together some of the finest strategic thinkers, business leaders, security practitioners, policy makers & media on a single platform to obtain a 360-degree perspective on issues that affect both governments and industries. In a rapidly converging world, there is often a confluence of events that happen in the economic, security and geostrategic space.
