The Aerospace and Defence industry in India is vital for the country. With a strength of over 1.3 million active personnel, it is the world’s 3rd largest military force. The lack of a healthy domestic industrial base means the Indian military relies on imports, earning the dubious distinction of being the world’s largest arms importer.
At the Synergia Foundation we seek to facilitate impactful deliberation and action around India’s strategic requirements with respect to Aerospace and Defence (A&D) by drawing from the broadest cross-sections of industry. The organization has been working in the A&D space since 1998 and has partnered with global think tanks, academia and industry to better understand the surface area, and identify key challenges and opportunities in the sector.
“Aerospace is no longer simply designing an airframe with a box; our world is now about mechatronics, a multidisciplinary system combining mechanical engineering, electronics, computer engineering, telecommunications engineering, systems engineering, control engineering and more.”
